Old Modern Handicrafts 1917 Red Baron Fokker Triplane
In early 1917, the German High Command requested that a triplane be developed to compete with the British Sopwith Triplane (predecessor to the infamous Sopwith Camel). Anthony Fokker, a Dutch aircraft designer building aircraft in Germany before the war, designed the Fokker Triplane. The Fokker was considered a great “dogfighter” based on its incredible climbing and turning abilities, despite being slower than its contemporaries.
This pre-built model of the 1917 Red Baron Fokker Triplane is modeled after perhaps the most famous fighter of all time. Handcrafted in iron and beautifully painted in the authentic WWI colors and triplane number 425/17, the last mount of Manfred von Richtofen, the famous œRed Baron. With intricate detailing such as a propeller, wings, and landing wheels, this is a must have for the collector and enthusiast!
