La Rinconada
La Rinconada is a 100% Organic Spanish Merino Wool from sheep raised by rancher Maria Pia Sanchez in the Extremadura region of Spain. A rustic yarn that is hearty yet supple, La Rinconada is the result of a generational dedication to land conservation and the preservation of Spanish heritage sheep. A dedication that is sustained by Maria Pia as she carries her family’s legacy into the future. Her primary focus is to observe and maintain the health of the land through reforestation, organic farming and compassionate ranching. The sheep of Dehesa de la Rinconada graze freely, surrounded by plants providing everything they may need from nourishment to medicine.
Maria Pia’s flock is comprised of both black and white merino sheep who’s wool when blended, provides a unique variety of tones. This combination of light and dark creates a natural gradient presented across five tones delivering a wide palette of colors dyed with organic pigments. There are 4 Natural bases, Blanco, Niebla, Granito and Terra, listed from light to dark that are undyed and highlight the natural colors of Maria Pia’s flock. Mother of Purl has brought in overdyed colors in the Granito and Terra bases and the Natural colors in all four bases.
